We keep busy year-round!
Alumni Association members seek to remain actively involved with their fellow alumni while cooperatively giving back to their alma mater. But what does this look like in practical terms? Well, here's a quick snapshot of how we keep busy throughout the year:
- Class Reunions: The Association helps to coordinate milestone class reunions each spring and summer.
- College & Career Presentations: Since 2008, the alumni association has hosted an annual College & Career presentation for CCA sophomores, juniors, and seniors. After collecting some questions from the audience, Alumni Association members speak about their experiences at college and in the working world. Presenting a wide variety of post-high-school paths, CCA students are exposed to the ins-and-outs of public universities, Christian colleges, the college application process, and the career-building process. College & Career Day typically takes place in the fall semester each year.
- New Member Welcome Potluck: The Association welcomes all new members each year at a potluck that typically coincides with the first meeting of its fiscal year (typically in June or July). Alumni from any past graduating class are welcome to join at the beginning of each year. If you'd like to get started, click "Join / Renew" above!
- Quarterly meetings of the Alumni Governing Council: Thirteen (13) alumni serve as the Association's Board of Directors, but all meetings are open to all alumni!
- Representation in the Community:
The Association seeks to promote and represent CCA throughout the South
Central Pennsylvania community. One avenue toward this end includes staffing
booths or tables at local community festivals, such as Carlisle's Arts
and Amani Festivals or Mechanicsburg's Jubilee Day.
- Sponsoring Sports Awards: CCA honors its sports teams at an annual Awards Banquet each spring semester. The Alumni Association maintains a presence at this event by sponsoring Benchmark Awards that go to CCA athletes who have reached special milestones in their careers. Two representatives from the Association typically attend this event to present the awards and congratulate the recipients.
- Staffing Events: CCA puts on many events throughout the year, and they always need help with event staffing! Alumni are regularly called upon to take tickets at the door of CCA's spring musical, help lead group games at High School Socials, and welcome prospective parents and students at CCA Open House events. The Association keeps a rotating schedule of alumni that are available to help with each event.
- Work Days: Association members get together once or twice each year for a work day at CCA. In the past, we've mulched the playground, painted the hallways, moved classroom furniture, and cleaned out closets - we do whatever is needed to help alleviate the burden of building maintenance tasks. Work days typically occur near the beginning and end of the school year (May/June and July/August).
